The Translation Studies Center is the earliest established research institute in the country. Now the Center has five professors, 8 associate professors, six doctors and five doctoral students. The faculty of the Center has a reasonable age structure, strong research ability and high level of teaching. The Center regularly engages famous scholars at home and abroad to teach and give lectures. So far the Center has obtained three research projects at ministerial level and several more at provincial level. The areas of research of the Center mainly include: the theory and practice of translation, the socio-semiotics and translation, comparison of English and Chinese and translation, translation of classics, translation teaching, etc. The basic task of the Center is to carry out academic research and cultivate translation researchers.
