School Introduction
   The Law School of Central China Normal University was established on the basis of the original department of Law and the Law major. The Law school of CCNU has started to enroll bachelors in laws from 1988 under the authorization of the Ministry of Education. It’s one of the first non-normal majors of CCNU.Today, the Law School not only enrolls bachelors from the Law department, it has also cooperated with the Economics School and the Business Administration School to start an experimental program in order to prepare interdisciplinary talents. The Law School owns the authorization of Master’s Degree in the first-class subject in law, and there are 6 second-class subjects for Master’s Degree which has started to enroll students,including Economics, Civil and Commercial Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, International Law.furthermore, it also enrolls postgraduates of Laws for specialized majors, and doctoral students in fields of related subjects.
   The law school has a strong faculty and an excellent team of teachers. The total number of the faculty is 38, including 12 full professors, 11 assistant professors, and 94% of the faculty owns a PhD degree. There are 5 doctoral supervisors, 19 master’s supervisors, 1 “Chang Jiang Scholar” chair professor, and one who was awarded “Talent of the New Century” by the Ministry of Education. The teachers of the Law School have superior academic abilities and strong abilities in scientific researches, enjoying good fame in the field of Law. Nearly half of the teachers have long-term visiting and exchanging experiences overseas: America, England,,Germany, Holland, the Taiwan Region. The Law School has cultivated over 4000 doctors, masters and bachelors of laws since it was founded 20 years ago. There are over 1000 students at present. International students from America, England, Niger, Vietnam, and Laos are currently visiting or studying in the degree programs.
   The School enjoys a great reputation among the national legal community for its research abilities as well as its excellent performance in preparing students. The major of Commercial Law is especially strong, according to statistics from authoritative departments, from 2009 to 2011, the commercial law of CCNU’s law school has ranked the 5th among all Law Schools in China in terms of its ability in doing core scientific research. The law school also pays high attention to talent nourishment, emphasizing both teaching and research, theory and practice, so that research results can benefit teaching. Many teachers won awards or prizes awarded by the government of Hubei province or the Ministry of Education for their outstanding performance either in teaching or in academic research.
The Law School has set up 6 academic reaching agencies: the reaching center for the legal issues in Rural Regions, Institute of Intellectual Property, Centers for Commercial Law, and Centers for Legal Issues in Investment.

I. A Brief Introduction to Law Major
The Law school of CCNU has started to enroll bachelors in laws from 1988, which is the first to set up the law major among the National Normal Universities; also the first is the CCNU's non-normal major. After more than 20 years’development, the law major disciplines construction as the basis, owns powerful sources of teaching talents and a team of delicately structured teachers. The total number of the faculty is 38, including 5 doctoral supervisors, 19 master supervisors, the talents of the “Education Department of the New Century”. Nearly half of the teachers have long-term visiting and exchanging experiences overseas: America, England,,Germany, Holland, the Taiwan Region. All professors of law major all directly participate in the teaching activities, active in the first line of undergraduate teaching, to provide the most cutting-edge knowledge and comprehensive guidance for students. To inheritance the traditional culture in cultivating pragmatic and innovative talents, Cultivation of law major has gained remarkable achievements, over 2000 graduates have been cultivated, international students from America, England, Niger, Vietnam, and Laos have been further studying in Law School or for a degree.


II. Educational Objectives
Our major aims at cultivating specialized talents systematically mastering profound knowledge in the theory of laws and skills in legal practice while they have the practical ability, sense of creative and innovation, they can go in for work such as practice, education and research of law in government agencies, enterprises, public institutions, and social groups.


III. Basic Requirements
Graduates of this major are expected to have the following knowledge and skills:
1. Master the basic theory of the subjects of law, familiar with China's socialist legal construction of laws and regulations and relevant international rules;
2.Master Economics, Sociology, Management and Natural Science and technical knowledge related to their major, understand the development trend of legal theory and legal system construction;
3.Have a pioneering and innovative spirit, have the ability to obtain knowledge independently, using the theory of law and methods of investigation,  judgments, have the ability to analyze the problem and solve the question by using legal knowledge, have the ability of good oral expression, thinking and distinguishing, writing, social communication and organization coordinated;
4. Master a foreign language, have a certain listening, speaking, reading, writing ability, proficiency in the use of computer technology.

IX. Community Education
The major sets up “The guidance of judicial examination", “Explain theory” and “Legal research methods and thesis writing” three innovative entrepreneurship courses, a total of 3 credits. In addition to participate in the above three courses to obtain credits, students in this major should participate in research project, publish in CSSCI source journals, receive awards in provincial and ministerial level, acquire legal occupation qualification certificate and professional certificate, application skills certificate.It’s up to the School to decide whether these achievements count as Creativity Credits.


X. Explanations
1.Explanation of the directions
The major is divided into the directions such as Government Legal System, Civil and Commercial Law, Criminal Justice, Foreign-related Legal Training. Besides the required courses of the professional training, the directions of elective courses are as follows:
Suggestions for The Government Legal are Elective Constitutional Classical Case Analysis, Administrative Law Classical Case Analysis, Foreign Constitutional Law, Foreign Administrative Law, National Compensation Law, Administrative Reconsideration Law;
Suggestions for Civil and Commercial Law direction are Optional Personality Right Law, Securities Law, Contract Law, Competition Law, Financial Law, Taxation Law, Insurance Law, Real Estate Law, Consumer Protection Law, Negotiable Instruments Law, Trade Secret Law, Arbitration Law;
Suggestions for The Criminal Judicial are Criminal Law Theory, Elective Economic Criminal Law, Administrative Criminal Law, Criminal Defense and Case Analysis, Law of Evidence, Criminal Investigation, Foreign Criminal Law, Criminal Policy Science;
Suggestions for Foreign Legal are Elective International Investment Law, International Human Rights Law, International Commercial Arbitration Law, International Intellectual Property Law, International Financial Law.
2. Requirements for General Education Credits
Choose at least 12 credits from the school of Humanities and arts classes, social science, natural science courses and other general elective courses.
3. The courses and credits structure of the major.
The major set up 79 professional courses, including general courses platform 13 required courses, counting 25 credits; specialized course platform 11 required courses, counting 22 credits; of elective courses: specialized course platform of 52 courses, 53 credits; community education platform 3 elective courses, 3 credits.
4. The requirements of practical teaching and practice of the major.
The practice of professional practice accumulated time more than a year, students’ internship of going overseas are encouraged. The students are expected to complete the graduation thesis, a total of 6 credits. The students use winter and summer vacation or dispersed or concentrated training for 4 weeks, counted 4 college credits; the unified arrangement of practice for 6 weeks, is offered in the sixth semester counted credits of 6; In addition, to encourage students to take courses in law and social service, mock court practice, to obtain the corresponding points.
5. Graduation requirements of the major.
   Students of this specialty should get the credits as required in the limited time, course credits should be reached at 107, complete all the practice of experiment teaching, meet the foreign language requirement of the university, the thesis defense, granted graduation. The bachelor’s degree is awarded to those in line with the school degree.
