About the School
The School of Marxism can be traced back to the College of
Zhongyuan University,Department of Politics, which was founded on December 5,
1949. The school was renamed College of Laws &Commerce in 1994,and College of
Politics & Law in 1997. The year 2004 saw the combination of the College of
Politics & Law and Marxism-Leninism Course Department, and the formation of
the School of Marxism(School of Political Communication). At present, the school has formulated a fairly complete discipline system which includes
Ideo-Political Education(Normal)and Politics (Non-normal, includes Ideo-Political Education, Philosophy and
International Politics). The school has also come through a multi-level
development from undergraduate education only to
postgraduate and doctoral education included.
The school possesses a strong faculty with 76 teaching
and administrative staff: 27 professors, 24 associate professors, 13 Ph.D.
supervisors and 25 supervisors of postgraduates.
We recruitundergraduates majoring in Ideo-Political Education(Normal)and Politics (Non-normal, includes Ideo-Political Education, Philosophy and
International Politics), postgraduates focusing on Marxist
Philosophy, Foreign Philosophy, Philosophy of Science & Technology, Logic, Ethnics,
History of CPC, International Politics, Basic Principles of Marxism, Sinicization
of Marxism, The Developing History of Marxism, Foreign Marxism, Ideo-Political
Education, which amount to 12 tracks for academicmaster’s degree and 1 professional
master’s degree in Teaching Methodology. We also recruit PH.D. Candidates for 7
tracks in Marxist Philosophy, History of CPC, Basic Principles of Marxism, Sinicization
of Marxism, Foreign Marxism, and Ideo-Political Education.
The school has 1 doctoral specialty and1
postdoctoral research station major in Marxist Theory, 1 national first-grade
subjects of Marxism, and 2 Hubei Provincial first-grade subjects of the Theory
of Marxism (comprised of Basic Principles of Marxism, Sinicization of Marxism, The
Developing History of Marxism, Foreign Marxism, Ideo-Political Education) and
Provincial key subject of Marxist Philosophy. The subject of Ideo-Political
Education is granted as thefirst batchof‘National Featured Specialty for higher
education by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.

I. About the Major
The major of International Politics studies
the transnational interactions of international actors that mainly includes nations,
and studies factors that influence these interactions from viewpoint of
political science. The demands for talents of global international worldview
are coming into great quantity as the the international communication between China and the world increases of international communication of China. The undergraduate program of International
Politics was established in 2003 and a postgraduate program was soon
established. Students of the major are highly encouraged and strongly recommended
to select courses of other majors or disciplineson precondition of excellent
basis of International Politics, especially courses of foreign languages to meet
the needs of globalization and further openness of China. The major has
formulated a fairly complete discipline system for teaching and research, has
provided adequate talents for the society, and thus got enjoyed great academic
and social reputation.
II. Educational Objectives
This major is designed to
provide students with solid theoretical knowledge of Marxist Theory and basic capacity
of international politics, international law and political science. The major
provide advanced personnel in the field of international politicswho suit for
positions of foreign affairs, teaching and research in party/government organs,
enterprises/institutions and social service units.
It also provides talented
graduates to pursue postgraduate degree of international politics.
III. Basic Requirments
Students of this major mainly study and grasp basic theory and knowledge of
Marxist and other international politics, international law and world economy, acquire
skills of research, socialsurvey and statistics on international politics and
international situation. Graduates will have the ability of teaching and
research, investigation, analysis and judgment,
coordination and arrangement on international politics.
Graduates
of this major are expected to have the following knowledge and skills:
1.Grasp the basic theories of Marxism and
political science, international laws and international politics.
2.Possess Marxist standpoint, viewpoint and
methods of analyzing international problems, and get a capacity of analyze &
judge the main international problems.
3.Have a good knowledge of China’s foreign
policies & regulations, have a good acquaintance of the theoretical
frontier and development dynamics of international politics & world
economy.
4.Masterthe main methods of Bibliography Retrieval andData accessof
international politics and related majors, have a good ability for academic
research and other practical works.
5.Have A broad basis of educational background and good Aesthetic
cultivation, with scientific mode of thinking, spirit of innovation and teamwork.
6.Suit for position
in foreign affairs and teaching/research in party & government organs,
enterprises and institutions.

IX. Community Education
2 credits are given for reward of university level, 4 for provincial level and 5 for national level. Credits accumulation, which less than 5 are permitted. Other cases are decided by teaching committee of the school.
X. Explanations
1. Choosing courses across majors/programs from Ideo-Political Education (Non-Normal) and Philosophy is permitted and encouraged from the first four semesters. Required courses are different by different major.
2.Selecting of Marxist Philosophy, politics, history of CPC and history of PRC are permitted on condition ofexcellent performance in one’s own major.
3.Social investigation, Social practice, ability cultivation, collective activities and academic activities are strongly encouraged and will be for graduation assessment.
4.Preconditions for graduation from Ideo-Political Education are 97 course credits, 5 Community Education credits, fulfillment of all Laboratory and/or Practice Credit, meeting the foreign language requirement at the university, and passing the defense. Bachelor of Laws is conferred to those who fulfill all related requirements of the university.
5. Graduation is permitted on precondition of 107 credits and meeting other related rules of the university for those who do not fulfill all the Community Education credits.
6. Anyone who apply for Minor completion certificateof International Politics must fulfill 28 credits of minor courses. Anyone who apply for Minor bachelor's degreeof International Politics must fulfill 32 credits of minor courses and pass the defense of graduation thesis.
