College of Teachers Education

The College of Teachers Education is established in January 2010 by integrating the former Teacher’s Professional Training and Testing Base, Central and Southern China Higher Education Teacher Training Center, MOE, Elementary Education Research Center, MOE, and Hubei Putonghua Training and Testing Center.


Its major functions are as follows, to organize the Teachers Professional Training and Testing for the university teachers and beyond, to provide guidance for the college or departments in its teaching-related student professional development, and to plan for the entire project for the national pilot reform in teachers education, etc.


The College is a national base of key teacher training in primary and secondary schools. It is a national base of teaching ability training of primary and secondary schools, a branch of the National Higher Education Teacher Training Research Organization and a branch of the Hubei Provincial Institute of Teacher Education Unit. There are 19 full-time staff members. The College of Teacher Education is a joint administrative and educational institute which contains seven substantive institutions, namely the Institute of Language, Teachers' Professional Competence Training Department for Students (Teachers' Professional Competence Test Center of CCNU), Disciplinary Teaching Theory Development Centre, Research Center of Teachers, Teachers' Professional Competence Training, Key Construction Base of National Vocational Education Teachers Training Center. Meanwhile, Central Southern China Teacher Training Center of the Ministry of Education, Basic Education Curriculum Research Center of CCNU, Putonghua Training and Testing Center of Hubei Province are affiliated to the School of Teacher Education. The teaching and research space of the College of Teacher Education covers an area of 1100 square meters, its training test site 520 square meters.


"Serving the teachers" is the mission of the College, while "highlighting the teachers' educational characteristics" is the core of our work. The College has actively integrated the advantages of teacher education resources, vigorously built a high level of teaching education platform with distinctive features, which embodies the best of teachers' lifelong education. The College has five committee members from the Second National Teacher Education Course Resources and 13 expert database experts from 13 "National culture Scheme" of the Ministry of education. It has made outstanding achievements in training the Normal (Teaching-related) Students, guiding the teachers' lifelong learning and the constructing the national teacher training bases. Since 2010, the College has successfully completed more than 30 "national training plan" projects, of which are 13 national demonstration projects and over 5,300 in-service teachers have been trained.
